Ford entry to F1 “requires consideration”

The F1 explosion in the USA has given Ford to F1 rumors new life

Ford, the legendary “Blue Oval” brand, is reportedly negotiating with Red Bull to power the team’s engines from 2026 onwards. There are even whispers that the deal could be sealed before the start of the upcoming season. 🤫

While Ford has remained tight-lipped about the situation, they have admitted that Liberty Media’s efforts to increase F1’s popularity have changed their perception and made them consider a return to the series at the pinnacle of motorsport.

Ford Performance boss Mark Rushbrook has suggested a shift in mindset, citing F1’s recent growth as a critical factor. Speaking to Motorsport.com, Rushbrook said: “Formula 1 is strong and growing in the United States and globally. What they have done well is create great racing and great competition. It’s still the pinnacle, but they’ve been able to reach new audiences with things like Drive to Survive.”

Another draw for Ford is the shift to fully sustainable fuel from 2026, something that Audi and Cadillac have cited as necessary in getting them interested. Rushbrook believes there is a solid value in categories not rushing to shift fully electric.

“Formula 1 is strong and growing in the United States and globally. What they have done well is create great racing and great competition. It’s still the pinnacle, but they’ve been able to reach new audiences with things like Drive to Survive.”

The possibility of one of Ford’s main market competitors, General Motors, joining the Grand Prix grid with the Andretti squad could also spark Ford’s interest in F1. However, Rushbrook believes GM’s actions will not necessarily dictate Ford’s plans.

Red Bull has their livery launch date set for NYC on 3 February. I have word from some of my contacts that Ford is sending some content creators and influencers to NYC on the same date.

Coincidence?

I don’t think it is at all. I’ll say it here first: Red Bull Ford will be announced at next Friday’s New York City Red Bull F1 livery launch.
